This week we sat down with Jon Harvey who works at MISSION Beef & Brews. Jon is one of the faces you might see when going to Riverwood Golf Club. Let’s get to know him a little bit more.

So, Jon how long have you worked at MISSION?
I’ve worked here for a little over 10 months. I began at the end of March 2020.

What do you do at MISSION Beef & Brews?
I am Head Chef at the Riverwood Golf location. That means I do a large amount of the cooking and running of the restaurant to guarantee that each burger is MISSION quality.

Have you always been interested in cooking?
Growing up I was always in the kitchen with my mom, and my dad grilled often. So, I grew up around both of my parents knowing their way around food. I began to take a personal interest in it as a way to be independent – that way I didn’t have to ask for them to cook for me! My parents now enjoy taking a rest while I take on some of the cooking for family gatherings.

Do you have any tips or tricks for anyone who wants to start cooking?
My top two tips would have to be – don’t be scared to season your food, and go low and slow! Plan things out ahead of time, this way so you can focus on your marinade or flavoring, and you can get almost always get that red meat tender and juicy if it’s cooked low and slow.

What do you like to do when you’re not making our mouth’s water on the grill or stove?
My perfect chill day would be hanging outside with my family, grilling and catching Sunday football.

You can catch Jon at MISSION Beef & Brews Riverwood Golf Club location!
