Last week we introduced you to Brenda. This week we sat down with Brenda and asked her a few questions.

How did you get started in the fitness industry?

I got started in the fitness industry as a young adult. Kind of by accident. The instructor at this gym didn’t show up, and the manager asked me if I could instruct this on the spot class.

Omg…with no certification or any experience, I did the best I knew how.

Talk about a stressful situation!

Anyway, God knew I needed that push. Believe it or not, I was a very shy person and fitness really took me out of my shell. At that point I decided to get certified in group fitness and be great at it! I realize now that God knew what he was doing when he made this crazy situation happen. After loving my group fitness classes, I decided to become a personal trainer and help people one on one!❤️

What are you most proud of?

I am most proud of everyone that God has put in my path. I know that this is the talent that he has given me – to help motivate others.

What has been 1 of the biggest accomplishments of your career?

The biggest accomplishment of my career is keeping balance in my life. Helping people stay motivated even when there is a crazy Pandemic in the world. I have been teaching virtual workout classes since last February.

What has been 1 of the biggest challenges you have faced in your career?

One of the most recent challenges in my career is COVID. I had to stop all interaction. No in-person classes or training. I’m a in personal trainer so this was hard for me.  I had an unfinished room in my upstairs. So, I started teaching virtual workout classes. The motivator motivates others to stay motivated.

What is 1 lesson you have learned that other fitness professionals can learn from?

One lesson that I have learned that other fitness professionals can learn from is to be approachable. No one wants to take a class or will walk up to someone that isn’t. Create a positive, professional, and motivating attitude, always.

What are your main motivations for teaching/training?

My main motivation for teaching and training is to help others achieve their goals. Teach them proper form and techniques. Give them a confidence within themselves. Everyone has different goals and reasons for why they want a trainer. I listen, I want them to be independent and be able to workout without me. It’s all about living a healthy lifestyle and creating a workout and clean eating schedule that works for them.

Brenda teaches group classes and personal training sessions, for teens and adults. If you are interested in joining her class at Lionsgate during the month of March, her class is Thursdays at 5:15 AM. If you are interested in personal training sessions Brenda can be reached at 919-333-9247
