We’d like you to meet Dori, one of our awesome aerobics instructors.
We asked her a few questions about her love of teaching aerobics classes, and here is what she had to say:
I have always had a passion for health and fitness since I was a preteen. The first thing I did when I got my driver’s license was get a gym membership. For many years I wanted to teach classes but was always afraid I would not be a successful instructor. With the help and mentoring of Brenda and Dawn I became certified 7 years ago. I wish I had done it sooner!
My love for exercise led me to many years of running including 2 marathons and many half marathons. Four years ago, I completed in my first Bikini Fitness show. I am very proud of myself for taking the stage for the first time in my 40’s. I have since competed 3 more times and plan to do another show in the future.
I have been married for 22 years and I have 3 biological children, and we are in the process of adopting twins. I also work full time. I enjoy traveling, time with family and friends and the beach is my happy place. Although life is busy, I always make time for exercise. When we travel, I plan ahead of time, what type of workout I can get in, even if it is only 20 minutes.
My motivation for teaching comes from the people that attend my class. I love to see their smiling faces at 5:15 AM! Everyone supports each other, and we are there to cheer each other on. We love new faces in class!
I currently teach the following classes:
Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 5:15 am.
Bootcamp. Do not let the name scare you away, and don’t let the time of day frighten you either! Once you get use to rolling out of bed early you will see how great it is to be done with your work out before the sun comes up. This class is made up of interval training; body weight and strength training mixed with cardio. There are many different formats, and each class is different. Any exercise can be modified to meet the level of the participant. This class is designed to increase cardio efficiency and increase strength which leads to fat loss and muscle gain.
Tuesday 5:15 am
Butts and Guts: This class combines cardio and strength training for a lower body focus. This class is a mix of glute, quad and hamstring exercises paired with core exercises. Sculpt, shape and strengthen your abdominals, buttocks and thighs in this lower body targeted workout.
