Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • a splash or two of red wine
  • large sweet onion
  • 4 gloves of garlic
  • cooking oil
  • 2 cups of flour
  • 8 lbs of stew beef
  • 5 lb bag of potatoes
  • 2 bags of baby carrots
  • salt and pepper

What You’ll Need to Do:

  1. Turn on your favorite holiday music.
  2. Place your vacuum sealed beef stew in a bowl of water in the sink to defrost.
  3. Pour a splash or two of red wine in your crockpot and turn the crockpot on high.
  4. Place a few tablespoons of oil in your frying pan, and set it on medium heat.
  5. Peel and cut up the onion, and throw it in the pan.
  6. Peel and mince the garlic, and throw that in the pan.
  7. Stir until the onions become a clear yellowish color.
  8. Place onions and garlic in the crockpot, and keep the oil in the pan. Set pan aside.
  9. Chop up your potatoes and carrots and place them in the crockpot.
  10. Have a sip of wine – sing. Now I don’t want to hear how you can’t sing. If you can talk, you can sing. So, go on, SING!
  11. Place flour in a bowl and add salt and pepper (around 10 shakes or less if the doctor has said to back off the salt).
  12. Remove and rinse the beef stew from the packages and place them on your cutting board.
  13. Cut the beef stew into bite-sized portions if needed.
  14. Hit beef with a meat tenderizer mallet a couple of times to prepare the beef for the flour and also to keep beat with the music you are listening to.
  15. Throw the beef into the bowl.
  16. Place the pan back on medium heat, (you can have another sip of wine here if your burner takes a while to heat the pan) and once the oil is hot again, place the pieces of beef in the pan and quickly turn to brown on each side.
  17. Place beef in crockpot, add water to cover stew. Now, concentrate on the singing part. Just kidding. You don’t have to concentrate at all. Just sing.
  18. Place about 1/4 cup or the remaining flour mixture from the bowl into the pan of oil and stir until flour turns light brown.
  19. Add a cup or two of water to the browned flour, and stir until gravy mixture is smooth.
  20. Pour gravy into the crockpot, and turn down the setting to low.
  21. Cook on low for 4-6 hours, put your feet up, drink your wine, and keep singing!
